How to Reach Tadoba from Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad
Tadoba is in Chandrapur district, in the far east of Maharashtra. It looks far away on the map, but it is easier to reach than most people think. This guide covers the main ways to get here from Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad, with distances and travel times.
All distances and times are approximate. Check current train timings and road conditions before you travel.
Two things to know first
The nearest airport is Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur. From there it is about 140 to 150 km by road to Moharli, roughly 3 hours.
The nearest major railway station is Chandrapur, about 30 to 35 km from Moharli, or 45 minutes to 1 hour by road.
Aranyam Resort is about 300 m from Moharli Gate, so whichever route you take, Moharli is where you are headed.
From Mumbai
Distance by road: about 850 km.
By air (fastest)
Fly from Mumbai to Nagpur (about 1.5 hours), then take a taxi or drive yourself to Moharli, about 3 hours. If you are short on time, this is the easiest option. Allow around 5 to 6 hours in total, including airport time.
By train
The Nandigram Express runs daily from Mumbai CSMT to Chandrapur. It leaves Mumbai in the late afternoon and reaches Chandrapur late the next morning, about 19 hours in all. From Chandrapur station, take a taxi to Moharli.
You can also take one of the many trains from Mumbai to Nagpur and drive from there.
By road
The Samruddhi Mahamarg, the Mumbai to Nagpur expressway, is now fully open and has made the drive much faster. Take the expressway towards Nagpur, then head south to Chandrapur and Moharli. Plan for around 12 to 14 hours of driving with breaks. Most people break the journey overnight or share the driving.
From Pune
Distance by road: about 750 km.
By air (fastest)
Fly from Pune to Nagpur (about 1.5 hours), then drive about 3 hours to Moharli.
By train
Take an overnight train from Pune to Nagpur, or to Wardha or Chandrapur if one suits your dates, and continue by road. Check the IRCTC website for current trains, because the options change by day of the week.
By road
Drive towards Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) and join the Samruddhi Mahamarg towards Nagpur, then head south to Chandrapur and Moharli. Plan for around 12 to 13 hours of driving with breaks.
From Hyderabad
Distance by road: about 450 km.
Hyderabad is the closest of the three cities, so driving is a practical choice.
By road
Head north out of Hyderabad towards Adilabad and Chandrapur, then on to Moharli. Plan for around 8 to 9 hours with breaks. Check Google Maps on the day for the fastest road in current traffic.
By train
Several trains connect Hyderabad and Secunderabad with Chandrapur and Balharshah. One of them, the Secunderabad to Nagpur Vande Bharat Express, stops at Chandrapur. From the station, Moharli is about 45 minutes to 1 hour by taxi.
By air
You can fly to Nagpur and drive about 3 hours to Moharli, but from Hyderabad the train or a direct drive is usually simpler.
Getting around once you arrive
Taxis are available from Nagpur airport and Chandrapur station. Book ahead if you arrive early in the morning or late at night.
Driving yourself is easy, and the roads to Moharli are in good condition. Avoid forest stretches after dark, though, because animals cross the road.
You do not need your own vehicle for the safari. Safari gypsies start from the gate.
Quick summary
From Mumbai: fly to Nagpur and drive 3 hours, take the Nandigram Express to Chandrapur (about 19 hours), or drive about 850 km.
From Pune: fly to Nagpur and drive 3 hours, take a train to Nagpur, or drive about 750 km.
From Hyderabad: drive about 450 km (8 to 9 hours) or take a train to Chandrapur.
Plan your arrival
Morning safaris start very early, so most guests arrive the afternoon or evening before. Staying close to Moharli Gate means you can sleep a little longer and still reach the gate on time.
We can also arrange your safaris, subject to availability (terms and conditions apply), so you only need to plan the journey. To check room availability or book a safari, message us on WhatsApp at +91 94221 39224.
